"Reflexology"

This science was known already around 4000 years ago in ancient China and Egypt as a powerful healing tool. In 1913, the American Otolaryngologist Dr. William Fitzgerald after long research divided the body into 10 different areas. In 1930, Dr. Eunice Ingham discovered that some areas on the sole of the feet or the hands can show reflexes if certain organs of the body suffer problems.

The principle technique or Reflexology uses pressure-point massage, usually on the feet and, to a lesser extent, the hands, and is regarded as influencing the microcosm of the body. Certain areas are mapped out on the palms, soles and top of the feet that correspond with certain organs, glands, limbs, senses and general functions such as speech and circulation.

As feet and hands are loaded with nerve endings, pressure placed upon a precise reflex area produces effects in other parts of the body via the pathways of the nervous system. The big toe, for instance, is connected to the head, and stimulating it through massage may help ease a headache.

It is believed that reflexology can remove blockages in the body's energy flow resulting in normalizing the blood and lymphatic flow and promoting the oxygenation of tissues as well as removal of waste. Reflexology can also, by improving circulation and restoring the flow of energy through the entire body, ease pain, relax the body and treat a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses.
